Assessment of risk trees is something that´s becoming more and more common in the management of trees. For tree managers, consultants and arborists, it´s therefore important to know the factors that influence whether a tree should be classified as a risk-tree and the actions that can be taken to reduce the risk.

Take the TRAQ-course and become TRAQ-qualified

TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification) is a system for tree risk assessment. The course is owned and controlled by the ISA. More information about the course can be found here: https://www.isa-arbor.com/Credentials/ISA-Tree-Risk-Assessment-Qualification.

The course is held during tree days, where the first two days is focusing on teaching how TRAQ works, and the third day you will be finishing the course with a test. After you pass the test you become TRAQ-qualified.

To be able to pass the test it is important that you read the literature and study the glossary carefully. By being familiar with the words before you start the course, you will increase your chances of passing the course. The course, the literature and the written test is in English.

Times
The course is held for three days:

• Day 1: 09.00 AM – 4.00 PM
• Day 2: 08.00 AM – 4.00 PM
• Day 3: 08.00 AM – 12.00 PM

Course leader: The course leader is Terrence Flanagan and Don Picker.

Course fee:
The course fee includes: coffee/tea and lunch on day 1 and day 2, coffee/tea on day 3, and ISA´s TRAQ-book and exercise book. The books will be sent to you after the registration for the course is closed. One exam opportunity is also included in the course fee.

• Course fee for members of ISA and the Swedish Chapter: 6 500 kr (excl. VAT)
• Course fee for members of the Swedish Chapter: 7 000 kr (excl. VAT)
• Course fee for nonmembers: 7 300 kr (excl. VAT)
• Re-exam: 3 500 SEK (excl. VAT)

Pre requirements: To be able to attend the course ISA requires that the participant has knowledge and written proof of that knowledge within at least four of the five areas listed below.

• A basic knowledge and comprehension of tree biology, especially as it relates to basic tree anatomy, wood structure and function, and wood decay
• The knowledge to identify the major tree species in the local area
• A fundamental knowledge of arboricultural practices, including pruning and tree support systems
• The knowledge to assess tree health and diagnose biotic and abiotic disorders common to trees in the local area
• A basic understanding of soil science and local soil conditions

Re-exam?

If you need to do a re-exam you can do this during the last day of the course, when the theoretical and practical test is held. Registration for re-exam is made through the regular registration.

Please not that this is for participants that failed during one or two of the tests. This is not a re-qualification. More about the re-qualification can be found here (in Swedish).

TRAQ – Svensk version

TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification) i Malmö  9-11 september

Bedömning av riskträd är något som blir vanligare och vanligare vid förvaltande av träd. Som exempelvis trädförvaltare, konsult och arborist är det därför viktigt att veta vilka faktorer som påverkar om ett träd ska klassas som ett riskträd, samt vilka åtgärder som går att göra för att minska riskerna.

Sedan en tid tillbaka finns TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification), som är ett system för bedömning av riskträd. TRAQ är framtagen av ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) och mer information finns via: https://www.isa-arbor.com/Credentials/ISA-Tree-Risk-Assessment-Qualification

Kursen pågår under tre dagar där de två första dagarna har fokus på att lära er hur TRAQ fungerar innan kursen avslutas under dag tre med ett test. Efter avklarat test blir man TRAQ-kvalificerad.

För att klara kursen är det viktigt att ni läser igenom litteraturen och studerar ordlistan mycket noggrant. Genom att kunna orden innan kursen får ni större möjligheter att kunna tillgodogöra er kursen. Hela kursen inklusive den skriftliga tentamen är på engelska.

Omprov?

För dig som behöver göra omprov kan du göra detta under kursens sista dag då det teoretiska och praktiska provet äger rum. Anmälan görs genom ordinarie anmälan.

OBS! Omprov är alltså att du gör om en eller flera delar av TRAQ som du inte blivit godkänd på. Detta är inte samma sak som att du uppdaterar din TRAQ-kvalifikation. Mer om att uppdatera TRAQ finns här!
